Thank you.

So, barring unforeseen problems, it should be showing up on the Ashland camera soon

Reported by the Ashland camera, northbound.

Today's northbound 52 out of Sanford is cancelled, so the 52 consist arriving Lorton will likely be killed as a 53 of today, too.

========

The several cancellations have to be pounding Amtrak's finances. This is the tail end of the snowbird trek, with lots of fully sold trains. Full length 48 cars trains, too.

Last two I saw recently had 2 engines and 50 cars.

I thought they were limited by CSX to 48 cars plus two engines for a total of 50.

Either way, that's full out, and a lot of people left on the platform.

Ever since CSX adopted Precision Railroading, 52 and 53 have had a more difficult time getting over the road. It used to be common for them to arrive early if they departed OT or to arrive OT if they departed late. Now the trains usually need their full allotted running time. Gradually working their way back into schedule after a big delay just isn't happening; cancellation is the only way out. Aside from finances, it will irritate customers who are often repeat customers.

I believe it is a 50 car limit plus engines. Here it is last Thursday.

I agree, this is a bad time of year for them to have to cancel trains, lots of unhappy snowbirds.

Yes.

My sister was stabbed twice last year with multi hour delays in terminal, and what she felt was very poor treatment by Amtrak.

After 15 years of snow birding on Auto-Train, she is shipping her car and flying to NJ.

You're right. I watched 53 on Monday, and it was indeed 2 locomotives + 17 passenger cars + 33 car carriers. The ratio of car carriers to passenger cars is usually about 2 to 1, give or a take a car.
