Another UP SD90MAC Leader! Epic Video Bombing Also!
Author: TexBob

I got word that UP 3613 would be leading the MSALI 11 out of San Antonio yesterday morning. I was
especially intrigued because UP 3613 is the first UP SD90MAC that I caught during their current
return from exile. https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4537272,4537272#msg-4537272

A pal and I drove west to catch this train in early morning sun for our still shots. By the time we got
back to the Houston area with the train it was high-sun thirty. Nevertheless, the occasion still
was worthy of a short video of the train passing the old Imperial Sugar mill in Sugar Land, TX,
MP 25 of UP's Glidden sub.

About a minute into the video, NS 9617 blows into the scene at track speed with 96 loads and 17 empties
of IAVSA 09.

Looks like the conductor was getting a bit of an "E ticket" ride!

This unit still has it's nose door window, where other UP units seem to be losing them. I wonder what the rational was, for removing them ?

I miss the 90s. Please send some back to the Spokane sub.

I believe according to utahrails there was concern about the nose door as a potential place debris could come in during collisions...? They started removing them around 1999, FWIW.

I am pretty sure after the 6936 was involved in th crossing accident, it was decided to plate them over.

The majority of doors have had this applied, but some on various models are still floating around
